Hello Creators,
Adobe just added a clever new trick to Illustrator called Turntable — and it’s going to save animators and motion designers a ton of time.
With Turntable, you can take any 2D vector artwork and spin it around in 3D space to generate quick turnarounds. Characters, logos, product sketches — all of it can now be previewed and rotated without leaving Illustrator.
Why it’s exciting
- Instant 3D rotation — no need to rebuild assets in another program
- Huge time saver for animation pre-vis, character design, and product demos
- Vector power stays intact — everything remains fully scalable and editable
- Not always perfect — some distortions can happen, but it’s still faster than manual redraws
Why it matters
For years, designers have had to rely on 3D plugins or export workflows just to get a rough turnaround of a 2D design. Turntable makes this process nearly instant — giving motion designers, animators, and illustrators more freedom to experiment without breaking their pipeline.
It’s not replacing full 3D tools, but for quick concepting and design iteration, Turntable is a small feature with a big impact.
Stay curious,
